Godzilla is stomping his way back onto the silver screen, and is taking the director of Monsters with him.
British filmmaker Gareth Edwards is said to be sealing a deal to develop and direct the Legendary Pictures project, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The trade adds that "Edwards will now work with a new yet-to-hired writer on the script."
The film will fall under the company's co-production and co-financing deal with Warner Bros. Toho Company will distribute the film in Japan.
In addition to Legendary, producers on the new film will be Dan Lin, Roy Lee and Brian Rogers. Yoshimitsu Banno, Kenji Okuhira and Doug Davison will Executive Produce.
Toho's Godzilla franchise has extended into various media over its 50+ year span, including books, TV programs, video games and more than 25 films worldwide.
